Put Aaron Rodgers and the Jets on "Hard Knocks" or I won't watch it!!!
Aaron "The (Not So) Accidental King of Content" Rodgers belongs on the reality show
Back in April, I wrote about how Aaron Rodgers in New York will be tremendous content. Now, we have a chance to get even more of said content than we thought, because the NFL might force the Jets to be the focus of this season’s Hard Knocks. If you aren’t familiar, Hard Knocks is the reality show that takes fans inside one NFL team’s training camp every year.
The Jets apparently do not want to be a part of this.
Coaches’ and front offices’ aversion to Hard Knocks makes sense. Appearing on a reality show is most useful for people who hope to gain enough social media followers to start podcasts, become DJs, lead trips to Coachella, become president of the United States, or sell pre-workout or those curling irons with three barrels (I say none of this except the president part with judgement). If being on a reality show isn’t your main job, cameras in your face are annoying, and if you’d prefer that your personal business not be broadcast across the world, cameras in your face are a nightmare.
The NFL knows that teams don’t want to appear on Hard Knocks. Therefore, the league has implemented a rule that if your team doesn’t have a new head coach, hasn’t been to the playoffs for two years, and hasn’t been on Hard Knocks in ten years, camera crews can infiltrate your facilities and there is nothing you can do about it.
The Jets fit the bill (obviously, lol).
I will probably only watch Hard Knocks this season if the Jets are featured. Find me a storyline more interesting than Aaron Rodgers on a new team for the first time in eighteen years. You can’t! In fact, find me a storyline more compelling than Aaron Rodgers in general, even though those storylines are often maddening. This man is an agent of chaos who likes to be controversial and likes to toss gasoline onto the already white-fires of NFL gossip.
Rodgers’ latest non-football appearance took place a week ago at a psychedelics conference in Colorado. Whether you believe in legalizing psychedelics or not, it’s hard to believe any health claims from a guy who lied about being vaccinated. Rodgers also hosted this panel alongside podcaster/generally “what’s his deal?” guy Aubrey Marcus, which doesn’t help Rodgers’ credibility cause.
