This week of sports-adjacent news has been almost too much for me to handle. I’ve tried to sit down and write a newsletter about a thousand times, only to find myself completely stumped as to how to include everything that has been rattling around in my head.
Not only did:
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce appear in a box at the US Open with Brittany and Patrick Mahomes after Donal Trump praised Brittany on social media…
….but, a few days later, Taylor endorsed Kamala Harris for president….
…Caitlin Clark and Kyle Kelce liked the post….
….and then Taylor called Travis her boyfriend at the MTV Awards.
Also, Shannon Sharpe went live on Instagram while doing some adult activities…
…there is a college football quarterback impersonating Patrick Mahomes….
…and Jayson Tatum accidentally dressed like a communist dictator.
There was only one way to cover these topics, which sound like someone came up with SEO-optimization Mad Libs for sports and pop culture: I needed

We recently held a chat together during the Chiefs first game of the season, and then debriefed in her newsletter afterwards. It was so much fun that we decided to take it off the internet and into real life.
Which is how we found ourselves sitting in a very hot room in Brooklyn with two microphones and a vague idea of how to record audio, despite the fact that doing so is, quite literally, the source of my livelihood. I was manning the recording, so any blips in the sound is my fault, and Madeline did an amazing job cleaning it up in Garage Band.
